QUETTA: The Supreme Court was hearing a petition on the law and order situation in Balochistan and the missing persons issue in the province at its Quetta registry on Thursday, DawnNews reported.

The cases were being heard by a three-judge bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.

During the hearing, the chief justice expressed displeasure over the authorities’ failure to produce the missing persons despite court orders.

“We have been asking for these missing persons for the past two days…none of them has so far been produced,” Chief Justice Iftikhar said, adding that, “all intelligence agencies have denied picking up these missing persons”.

“Then where are these people?” the chief justice said.

The chief justice urged the administration to act legally against those involved in anti-state activities and said that the judiciary would assist the administration in that case.

The court moreover directed the authorities to recover a missing person who disappeared from Quetta’s Sariab area.

Earlier during Wednesday’s hearing, Chief Justice Iftikhar has summoned Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani, Home Minister Mir Zafarullah Zehri and ISI’s sector in-charge to appear before the court on Thursday.

The authorities concerned failed to present 12 people who had ‘disappeared’ from Quetta and Totak area of Khuzdar despite an order issued by the court to police and the deputy commissioner of Khuzdar on Monday to produce them on Wednesday.

SC directs concerned to recover missing persons - Pakistan Observer

Quetta?A three-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan has directed the heads of law enforcing agencies to play their due role to ensure tracing out and recovering or release of missing persons. The bench comprised Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Tariq Pervez here on Monday conducted hearing into cases pertaining to law and order situation of Balochistan and missing persons.

Advocate General Balochistan Amanullah Kunrani submitted the list of missing persons from Balochistan. Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary instructed the AG to ask Chief Secretary Balochistan to approach and hold meetings with the officials of law enforcing agencies and other relevant authorities to get information about whereabouts of missing persons.

He said that information to be provided by these stakeholders be submitted on May 02. He said that if any missing person is wanted in any case, he shall be produced before the court.The bench ordered IG FC and IG Police Balochistan to put a comprehensive report on missing persons and law and order situation.

Home Secretary Balochistan Nasibullah Bazai submitted with the court that a missing person Din Muhammad included in the list and some other missing persons had left for Afghanistan on their own will to join ?Jihad?.

He said that all the law enforcing agencies have reached consensus that several missing persons had gone missing on their own will as they had left the country freely. The CJP said that Din Muhammad was the employee of the Health Department, Government of Balochistan adding that authorities concerned should trace out his whereabouts.
